Dr. Prakash Narayan Shukla is one of the most senior Psychiatrists of the country. He started as a consultant psychiatrist in July 1980, at Raipur. In 2003 M. Phil. In clinical psychology and M. Phil. In Psychiatric social work were commissioned and M. Sc. in Psychiatric Nursing in 2013. In 2008 D.N.B. in psychiatry was also started with one seat each year but was discontinued after 10 years, due to some unavoidable reasons.

Held following positions :
1. Dr. Prakash Narayan Shukla, the founder member and director of Post Graduate Institute of Behavioural and Medical Science (PGIBAMS), Raipur being and enthusiastic educationist and a visionary, foresaw the dearth of Institutes which train doctors in the field of psychiatry.
2. Practicing as a Consultant Psychiatrist from 1980 at Raipur.
3. Running 100 Bedded Psychiatric Nursing Home at Village Mana (Basti), Raipur Since 1998.
4. President of Indian Psychiatric Society, Central Zone in the year 2002-2003.
5. President of Indian Psychiatric Society, Chhattisgarh State Branch 2005-2006.
6. Ex. President of (IMA) Indian Medical Association – 1990.
7. Award : Prof B.B. Sethi Oration Award for the year 2007 by Indian Psychiatric Society, Central Zone.
8. Member of the advisory committee of Indian Journal of Psychiatry.
9. Many International and National Paper publication in the field of psychiatry.

Management and Leadership:
In 1985 an indoor hospital with 10 beds was started, which gradually increased up to 100 beds in 1998, when Psychiatric Nursing home at Mana (Basti), Raipur was commissioned. There are almost 120 employees in the Manopchar Nursing home at Mana (Basti) and OPD at Raipur, opposite Rajkumar College. There are 8 teachers in M. Phil. Clinical Psychology and 2 in M. Phil. Psychiatric Social Work, and 6 teaches in M. Sc. Psychiatric nursing including their principals.

There are almost 70-75 students in these subjects and now 15 students in DPM each year is going to increase the number of students almost 100 every year. His duties include teaching of all these students of the 3 subjects and now, will be teaching the students of D.P.M. as well. He not only examines and treats in the OPD Raipur but also in the 100 bedded nursing home at Mana (Bast) Raipur, with patient-centered care quality. Manopchar is covering not only the psychiatric patients of the whole Chhattisgarh but also the eastern Orissa and western M.P
